We are experiencing some unique times in our country. We are also experiencing a unique housing market here on the Olympic Peninsula. The Sequim market ended 2018 with an average of 2.55 months supply of homes (a healthy market is around 6 months supply.) Low inventory tends to lead to higher prices. We had a median overall price increase of 7.8% from 2017 to 2018.
Days on market decreased from 2017 for an average of 56 days to 45 days for the Olympic Peninsula as a whole.
Sequim land median prices are up 18% from 2017 but sales for were down by 14%. A little different for Port Angeles with median prices just up 1% and number of sales were up 12% from 2017.

I am getting the spring itch to get out in the dirt. As many of you know, we can get frost until the end of April. For plant shopping we are mostly in the USDA Hardiness Zone of 8b (minimum of 15-20 degrees) for winter survival. We pushed it this winter. Sunset Western Garden book says we are in Zone’s 4&5 unless you are in the hills. Find this reference at many nurseries when you are considering what plants to buy.
